Phyllis Marion Minkel, age 88, longtime resident of Mankato, died peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2018.

Memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N Riverfront Drive, Mankato, with visitation from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Phyllis was born to Peter and Maude Nelson on May 7, 1929, the youngest of six children. She had a long love of reading, music, theatre and, for many years enjoyed dancing. Phyllis had a career in customer service, retiring from Atlantis Plastics (National Poly). Phyllis was an active member in the Mankato Moose Lodge and a member at First Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir for many years.

Phyllis met husband, Willie, at the Kato Ballroom. Following a short courtship, they married on December 7, 1949, they enjoyed 68 years of marriage and had two children. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Charlotte, Ruth, Mavis, and Petra; brother, Jack. Survivors include husband, Willie; two children and their spouses, Brad and Deb Minkel, of Rockford, Illinois, Barb and John Dusek of Apple Valley, Minnesota; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; beloved nieces and nephews.
