Susan Marie Schilling, age 58, of Vernon Center, died Friday, October 21, 2016, at the Madelia Community Hospital.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at Lake Crystal Mortuary.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Susan was born December 25, 1957, in Canby to Clarence and Caroline (Streff) Schilling.  She was a 1975 graduate of Canby High School and went on to receive her Master’s Degree from Mankato State University.  Susan taught computer science at Mankato State University for 32 years.  She was united in marriage to Harry Coonce on August 5, 1995, in Mankato.  Susan enjoyed flowers, gardening, animals, reading, laughing and enjoying life, cooking, calypso music, ice cream, the Simpsons, entertaining family and friends, ceramics, long talks and was a generally awesome person. She also enjoyed traveling, having visited New York, Europe, Hawaii and the Caribbean.

Susan is survived by her husband, Harry of Vernon Center; two step-sons, Aaron Coonce (and his children, Evan and Emmalyn Coonce) of White Bear Lake and Zachariah Coonce of Austin, TX; two sisters, Mary Simonton of Watertown, S.D. and Betty (Roger) Tolrud of Brookings, S.D.; many nieces, nephews, other family and her close friends, Melody Taylor and Eric Buck of Vernon Center.
