Mapleton, MN 56065 (507) 524-3616 Farmer, cattleman, and entrepreneur, Robert Clarence "Bob" Nienow, age 76, of Mapleton, died Thursday, March 26, 2015, at home on his beloved farm. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mapleton, with Rev. Vicki Hultine officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Monday at the church, and continues one hour prior to the service. Olson - Tichenor Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Memorials are preferred to the Maple River F.F.A., the Heather Curling Club, or the American Diabetes Association. Robert was born August 23, 1938, in Mankato to Emil and Nellie (Dobie) Nienow. He attended school in Mapleton. Bob was united in marriage to Darline Dunn on June 7, 1955, in Nashua, IA. Together they raised two children, Rick and Kelly. Bob later married Janice Ignaszewski on August 18, 2001, in Wells. Bob was a life-long farmer. He was devoted to hard work and was known for his progressive farming methods. Bob was dedicated to his livestock and land and loved living the rural life. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Mapleton. Bob was also active in the National Cattlemen's Association and the Heather and Caledonia Curling Clubs. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, curling, and watching basketball and other sports. Bob is survived by his wife, Jan of Mapleton; two children, Rick (special friend, Dawn Wilson) Nienow of Mankato and Kelly (Larry) Johnson of Mapleton; three grandchildren, Phillip, Arianna, and Jacob Nienow; one brother, Richard (Tricia) Nienow of Mankato; and nephews and nieces, Jason, Tasha, Sara, and Carl Nienow. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Darline in 1999; an infant son; and a brother, Jerry Nienow.
