Main Street Lake Crystal, MN 56055 (507) 726-6161 Erling Gerhard Lokre, age 97, of rural Madelia, died Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Ecumen Country Neighbors in Lake Crystal, MN. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Butternut. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., Wednesday, April 1st, at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in Our Saviour's Lutheran Cemetery, Butternut. Erling was born February 20, 1918 to Gregor and Eldri (Glimsdal) Lokre in Lincoln Township, Blue Earth County. He attended District # 85 School. Erling served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941-45 in the European Theatre. He was awarded the European ribbon with 5 battle stars as well as the Bronze Star. Erling farmed and ran a Welding and Repair Business for many years doing repair work for people in the Madelia area. He also enjoyed collecting and trading guns, gas engines, antiques, and repairing. It seemed like he could build or repair anything. He was a lifelong member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Butternut and the Hanska American Legion. "Erling will be remembered for his wit and sense of humor." Erling is survived by his sister, Arlene Petrauskas of Santa Barbara, CA; brother, Gehard (Doris) Lokre of Marshfield, WI; sister-in-law, Bonnie Lokre of LaSalle; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Erling was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Paul (Adeline) Lokre, Arnold Lokre, and Palmer Lokre; two sisters, Margaret (Bruce) McDonald and Ruth (Norval) Sandstrom; brother-in-law, Dick Petrauskas.
