Riverfront Drive Mankato, MN 56001 (507) 388-2202 George Norman Chamberlain, age 65, of Mankato, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, February 14, 2015, from a stroke at Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato. A Family Memorial Service will be held in the spring. Interment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. George was born September 20, 1949 to George E. and Irma Marie (Peterson) Chamberlain in Madelia. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Mapleton. George attended and graduated from Mapleton Public Schools in 1968. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1973-75. He then served with the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1994. He attended Mankato State University. George was employed by A.H. Hermel Company for 28 years. He enjoyed Maverick Basketball, reading, bike riding, visiting with family and friends. George is survived by one brother, John (Katie) Chamberlain of Fergus Falls; sister, Susan Olsem of Westbrook; friend, Matt Bauer of Mankato; nieces, nephews, and many cousins. George was preceded in death by his father, George on February 17, 1968 and mother, Irma in December 8, 1995; and an infant brother, James Allen on September 4, 1960.
