Mankato Mortuary 1001 N Riverfront Dr Mankato, MN 56001 Phyllis B. Brine Phyllis Blow Brine, 91 of Mankato, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2015. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2015 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Mankato with Fr. Paul Rider officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the service on Saturday at the church. A private family burial will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements are with Mankato Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, Mankato. Born on August 27, 1923 in Mankato, she was the daughter of the late Anthony (Tony) Blow and Katherine (Kranz) Blow Garver. Phyllis was a long time resident of Mankato where she lived during her childhood. After living overseas, and in Florida, she moved back to the area in 1969 and remained here until her death. Phyllis graduated from Mankato High School in 1941. She was very patriotic and felt strongly about serving her county. After two years in the Civil Air Patrol, in the Twin Cities, she enlisted in the Women's Army Corp in 1945. She served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States and European Theater during WWII, where she met her husband. In addition to raising her five children, she held various professional positions through her life including; bookkeeper, secretary, and telephone operator. She was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church for many years, serving as church secretary, a member of the Vestry and the Women's Auxiliary. Her church family was of the utmost importance to her. She loved to cook and bake for her family, enjoyed reading and volunteering. She is survived by her children, Ann Weirauch Brine and her husband, Rod Weirauch, of Midland, MI, Linda Brine of Tofte, MN, Scott Brine, of Austin, TX, and Terri Brine Fast and her husband, Randy, of Mankato, MN; grandchildren, Hayley Fast, of Winona, MN and Trent Fast, of Minneapolis, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Joan; as well as her sister and brother.
