Mankato Mortuary 1001 North Riverfront Drive Mankato, MN 56001 507-388-2202 Funeral Services for Donald James, age 94 of North Mankato will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Hosanna Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Kosberg officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at Minneopa Cemetery. Mankato Mortuary has been entrusted to handle funeral services. Donald James was born in Ponoka, Alberta Canada, the youngest of six children to Clarence and Jessie James. As an infant, his parents moved to Spokane, Washington where he spent his younger years. Donald served in the United States Army during World War II, before being honorably discharged. After serving in the service, he moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He married his best friend Bea Gumm November 11, 1946 and together they had four daughters. He worked in his brother's sporting goods store for many years. In 1975, Donald and Bee moved to Mankato where he worked for Glade Construction and Carlson Craft, retiring at the age of 81. Donald and Bea were long time members of Hosanna Lutheran church. After a good life of 94 years, Donald died January 28, 2015 at Oaklawn Health Care Center. He is survived by his wife Bea; daughters, Jerri Lee (Marlin) Owen of La Mirada, CA, Carol (Joel) Glade of North Mankato, Jan Boosinger of Eugene, OR, and Kathryn Fisher of Newberg, OR; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Mabel and Estella and brothers, Walter, Lester and Vernon. Memorials preferred to Hosanna Lutheran Church.
