Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive North Mankato, MN 56003 (507) 388-2288 Norma Esther Elling, age 87, of Mankato, died Monday, December 15, 2014, at Monarch Meadows in North Mankato. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 19, 2014, at St. Mark Ev. Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Keith Siverly officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be alongside her husband in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice. Norma was born on April 27, 1927, in Green Isle Township. She was baptized on May 8, 1927, and confirmed in her faith on April 6, 1941. Norma was the daughter of William and Gertrude (Rosenfeld) Bogatzki. She was united in marriage to Milo Elling on August 25, 1946, in Gaylord. Norma was employed with Shari Candies in Mankato for 38 years, where she was affectionately known as the "Candy Lady" to family and friends. She was a member of St. Mark Ev. Lutheran Church in Mankato, where she participated in the Ladies' Aid. Norma enjoyed volunteer work, traveling, and baking homemade rolls, angel food cakes, and chocolate chip cookies. Norma is survived by her daughter, Jeanette (John) Radick of Appleton; son, Douglas (Janine) Elling of Mankato; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Dave) Gorvin of Farmington, Jeffrey (Amy) Radick of Jordan, Melissa (Jason) Prondzinski of Kenyon, and Rebecca (Phil) Julson of Tiffin, IA; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew, Samuel, and Benjamin Gorvin, Bryan and Karly Radick, Kenzie Akers, and Cora Julson; sister, Lois Majeski of Winthrop; sisters-in-law, Sherri Bogatzki of Flager Beach, FL, Hulda Peterson of Hutchinson, Marlain Elling of Wayzata, and Betty Elling of Delano; also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milo in 1984; two brothers, Alfred (Gertrude) Bogatzki and William Bogatzki; an infant sister, Bernice Bogatzki; three sisters, Ruth (Wilfhart) Hahn, Gertrude (Rueben) Hahn, and Beata (Marvin) Polzin; sister-in-law, Darlene Bogatzki; brother-in-law, Willmer Majeski; nephews, Kenneth Majeski, Paul Polzin, and Steven Polzin; and a niece, Shirley Murashie.
