Eugene "Gene" Kopachek, age 83 of Eagle Lake passed away peacefully on December 14, 2014 after a lengthy heart illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, December 18, 2014 at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake with Rev. Robert Schneider officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Madison Lake. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. (Noon), until the time of service on Thursday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Gene was born January 22, 1931 in Cordova, Minnesota to Henry and Gladys (Miller) Kopackek and was united in marriage to Bernadine Schneider on December 29, 1951. Gene farmed outside of Eagle Lake and operated Kopachek Bus Service. Gene was an avid fisherman and enjoyed raising all kinds of ducks, geese, turkeys, pheasants and chickens. Gene is survived by his wife Bernie of Eagle Lake; sons James and Richard; step mother Evelyn Kopachek; step brother Steve (Amy) Kopachek; grandchildren, Jenni (Walter) Baker, Kerri (Isaac) Ferderer, Toni (Nicholas) Dick; great-grandchildren Noah and Logan Ferderer and nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his father Henry, mother Gladys; step-sister Diane Tacheny.
