Mankato Mortuary 1001 North Riverfront Drive Mankato, MN 56001 507-388-2202 Mass of Christian Burial for Charlotte O'Toole, 95 of Mankato, will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. Visitation will be held an hour prior to mass at the church. Burial will follow the service in St. Anne's Cemetery, Janesville. Mankato Mortuary has been entrusted with services. Charlotte was born December 19, 1918 in Good Thunder, the oldest of seven children born to Charles and Mary (Burns) Howley. Charlotte's father taught her the value of education, which she carried with her throughout her life. She graduated from Mapleton High School in 1934. Following a three year teacher's program at Mankato State University, Charlotte was able to teach around the country. She knew there was a big world out there that needed to be explored. When she returned to Minnesota to begin teaching in Janesville, Charlotte met Thomas O'Toole and married in 1948. The couple moved to Mankato to raise their three children, James, Mary and Ann. Charlotte, knew the value of educating herself and pursued a higher level of education and graduated from Mankato State University with a Master's degree in Education. After teaching for over 38 years, Charlotte finally retired from a career of aspiring others in their education. After 95 beautiful years, Charlotte died in New Hope at St. Therese nursing home in New Hope. She is survived by her children; James O'Toole of Rochester, Mary O'Toole of Plymouth, and Ann (Al) Mears of Albertville; grandchildren, Katie (Troy) Barrick of Maple Grove and Michael (Kelly) Mears of St. Cloud; great granddaughter Ella. Shew was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, parents.
