Riverfront Drive Mankato, MN 56001 (507) 388-2202 Elray John "Bud" Kenning, age 76, of Mankato, MN, and formerly of Klossner, MN, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Services will be held on Saturday, October 11, at 11 AM at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Mankato. Visitation will be held at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church on Friday, October 10, from 4-7 PM, and one hour before services. Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Rapidan at a later date. Mankato Mortuary handled the arrangements. Bud was born August 19, 1938, in New Ulm, MN, to John O. and Helen (Unverworn) Kenning. Bud was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in New Ulm. He attended New Ulm Public School and worked on the family farm. Bud served in the Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1964. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Bartsch on July 27, 1961, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Bud was a jack of all trades and master of some. He was employed in many different areas including truck driver, diesel mechanic and road construction. He was the owner of B&D CB Sales, 5th Wheel Shop, and Bud's Car Washes. Bud was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Mankato Lions Club, and enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels. In his younger days, Bud enjoyed roller skating and racing stock cars. Throughout his life, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry and watching birds. Bud is survived by his wife, Phyllis; four children, Beth (Kirk) Finch of St. Clair, Barb (Bruce) Macrafic of North Mankato, John Kenning of Mankato, and Bill (Meg) Kenning of White Fish Bay, WI; 14 grandchildren: Erin (Chris), Spencer, Kacie (Dustin), Jarrett, David, Jennifer, Gabby (Travis), Liz (Kevin), Landon, Tony, Tim, Anita, Cora and Dean; and 9 great grandchildren: Gracelynn, Marshall, Andrea, Danica, Nicholas, Carson, Ryder, Liam and Eviana; sisters, Marie Brandel, Ramona (Ed) Danhouser, and Helen "Toots" (Lynn) Olson. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Joe Kenning in February 2014, and brother-in-law George Brandel.
