Joy Margaret Poate, age 82, died Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Visitation will be one hour before service at the mortuary. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery, Nicollet Township, Nicollet County.

Joy was born February 6, 1931 to Lester and Stella (Jaeger) Wolfram in Jordan, Minnesota. She graduated from Jordan High School in 1949. She attended Hamline University and graduated from Mankato Teachers College. Joy taught school at Hutchinson, Roseville, the Corcoran School in Minneapolis, and during the summers at the Jesse Lee Home for Children in Seward, Alaska. She was united in marriage to Frederick Harvey Poate on June 12, 1964 in Minneapolis. They moved to a farm near Judson where they farmed until retirement. She attended Bethany Lutheran Church, Judson. Joy enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafting, camping, gardening, cooking, canning, and making maple syrup.

Joy is survived by her son, Bob Poate of Richfield; and several cousins.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred on April 19, 2009; brother, Jim; sister, Ellen.
