Rita Marion (Coggins) Marsh, age 94 of Mankato, died Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. Ted Hottinger S.J. officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the School Sisters of Notre Dame retirement fund, VINE, or the donor's choice. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangement.

Rita was born December 4, 1918 to Patrick and Agnes (Leehy) Coggins in Blooming Prairie, MN. Rita attended and received her Teaching Certificate from Mankato Teachers College in Mankato in 1938 and her bachelors in teaching from Mankato State in 1967. She taught elementary school at Malone country school. She also taught in Jasper, MN, and Austin, MN. Rita was united in marriage to Quentin J. Marsh in Blooming Prairie in 1944. They were blessed with four children.

She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, a 60 year member of Catholic Daughters of America and a lifelong friend of the School Sisters of Notre Dame. She took great pride in her Irish heritage!

She was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed many arts performances, especially the Mankato Symphony Orchestra. She was an avid walker and enjoyed reading. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Rita is survived by three children, Mary Rita (Bill) Schorer of Springfield, VA, David (Darby) Marsh of Mankato, Stephen (Sandy) Marsh of St. Louis, MO; five grandchildren, Elizabeth (Craig) Boyer, David (Chalice) Schorer, Daniel Schorer, Rebecca (Jason) Guss, Chris (Jillian) Marsh; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Quentin in 2006; daughter, Barbara Marsh Budde in 1997; four sisters and two brothers.
