William Duane "Bill" O'Hara, age 84, of North Mankato, died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Autumn Grace Assisted Living in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, North Mankato with Rev. Peter Nosbush officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Friday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to ISJ Hospice, Autumn Grace, or Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
William was born December 22, 1924 to John C. and Catherine (McDonnell) O'Hara in Montrose, South Dakota. He graduated from Montrose High School in 1942. William was married to Anna Mae Jorgensen on September 19, 1949 in Montrose. Anna Mae died in 1976. He married Sarah Maxine (Crabtree) Varner on December 22, 1976 in Mankato. William was employed by Schwickert's from 1963 until retiring in 1986. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He enjoyed sports, playing cards, golfing, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
William is survived by his wife, Sarah of North Mankato; seven children, Linda (Robert) Johnson of Simi Valley, CA, Sharon (Howard) Hewitt of North Mankato, Nancy (James) Korkow of Canistota, SD, James (Julie) O'Hara of North Mankato, Diane (Bill) Seitzer of St. Peter, Patrick (Kathy) O'Hara, Timothy (Amy) O'Hara all of Bloomington, MN; two step-children, Linda Cassett of North Mankato and James (Alicia) Varner of Ottumwa, IA; eighteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and also a large loving extended family including many beloved nieces and nephews.
William was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Anna Mae; two brothers, Leo and John E.; two sisters, Helen and Mary.
