Dee Ann Dahm, age 74, of Mankato, died peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2013 at her home.
A Gathering of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, March 13 from 4-7 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary. It was Dee's wish to not have a formal service.
Dee Ann was born on November 12, 1938 to Dr. Lessing E. and Erva (Jertson) Schleuder. She graduated from New Ulm High School and Mankato State University with a Bachelor and Master's degree in education. She earned five different certifications in teaching and coaching. Dee taught Special Education for 25 years in several communities around Mankato with her last 12 years in St. Peter. Dee was united in marriage to Alan Dahm in New Ulm on August 30, 1958.
Dee was blessed with three sons, Tim, Doug, and Ted. She loved sports and games, especially Minnesota teams. Dee enjoyed playing bridge, crossword puzzles, cribbage, true forensic shows, and her cabin on Lake Francis in Elysian for 30 years. Dee enjoyed traveling and took many trips with her family and friends. She had many medical problems from age 49 when she had her first of several heart attacks and open heart surgeries. Luckily she was a fast healer. Dee Ann adored her four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was always showing off their pictures to others.
Dee is survived by her children, Tim (Rachel), Doug (Pam), and Ted; grandchildren, Jenny (Leon), Renee (Kristian), Jack, and Grace; and great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Baby Weckwerth and Kaylie and Alexander. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Alan in 2005.
