James B. Jennings, age 83 of Eagle Lake, died Thursday, March 7, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March12, 2013 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary in North Mankato with Rev. David Gens officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at Northview on Tuesday. Burial will be in Eagle Lake Cemetery at a later date. Lunch will follow at the Eagle Lake American Legion.
James Bert was born May 5, 1929 to Stanley and Idabelle (Olson) Jennings in Amboy, Minnesota.
On June 30, 1950 he was united in marriage to Arlis Gens. Arlis preceded James in death. He married Joyce Schoettler on May 25, 2000.
James worked as a parts manager for John Deere and proudly served his country in the US Air Force for 22 years. He was a member of the Eagle Lake American Legion where he was also the manager for 15 years. He was active in the VFW and the Sons of American Legion. He enjoyed horses and genealogy.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Joyce Jennings; sons: Steven (Rita) Jennings, Randy (special friend, Melva) Jennings; granddaughter, Alysia Jennings; Joyce's family: Larry Schoettler, Chuck (Julie) Schoettler, Craig Schoettler; Margaret (special friend, Jeannine Johnson) Schoettler, Linda (Kristin) Boyes, Sue (Arik) Andersen, and Amy (Mike) O'Toole; 7 granddaughters; 8 grandsons; mother-in-law, Mary Baynes; brother, Bill (Joanne) McCloskey; sister, Cheryl (John) Bruestle; other extended family and many friends.
James was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlis; parents; and daughter, Susan Marie.
The family wishes to thank all of James' doctors and nurses for their outstanding care, specifically Dr. Kingsley Ihasherim.
