Erna E. Weisz of North Mankato, passed peacefully at the age of 91, on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Oak Terrace Assisted Living surrounded by her loved ones.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 11, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Mankato. Burial will be in Tivoli Cemetery, rural Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Erna Elfrieda was born October 24, 1921, to Paul and Berta (Schulz) Erbe in Donkawe, Kreis Militsch, Germany.
On October 29, 1938, Erna was united in marriage to Alfred Weisz in Germany. After surviving the war, they immigrated to Mankato, Minnesota in 1951. After 21 years of marriage they were blessed with their only daughter, Karen.
Before retiring, Erna worked as a Nurse's Aide, in the surgery department at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital. She belonged to the German-American Club for many years and made many friends. Erna enjoyed traveling, gardening, walking, cooking, entertaining and working hard. She was loved by many, especially her family.
Grateful in having shared in Erna's life is her daughter: Karen Weisz of North Mankato (partner, Brian Jentges); grandson: Ryan Weisz (fianc", Erica Idso); two nieces: Manuela (Jason) Reekie and Sabine (G"nter) Baumbach; three nephews: Uwe Erbe, Carsten Erbe and Bernd Pietsch; one grand-niece: Paige Reekie; 3 grand-nephews: Carsten and Mirko Pietsch and Cole Reekie.
Erna was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Berta: her husband, Alfred; her sister, Margot Pietsch; and her brother, Albert Erbe.
