Donald R. Lindblom, age 80, of North Mankato, died Friday, March 1, 2013 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living, North Mankato.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Northview " North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato with Rev. Jay Dahlvang, officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday at Northview " North Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service on Wednesday. Burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato.
Donald was born October 1, 1932 to Ernest and Erma (Robideau) Lindblom in Mankato. When his mother passed away Donald was raised with the help of his father's family until Ernest married Leona Klaseus. He graduated from Mankato High School. Donald served his country with the U.S. Army from 1953-55. On February 15, 1958 he was united in marriage to Patricia Harty in Mankato. Donald was employed by Crown Cork and Seal (Continental Can) as a quality control inspector for over 30 years. He enjoyed sports and was an avid golfer and had caddied in his youth at the Mankato Golf Club. He also enjoyed playing cribbage, music of the 50's and 60's, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Minnesota Twins, and spending time with his family and their activities. He was a volunteer for Hilltop Neighbors, a Past Commander of the American Legion Post 11, and a Jefferson Award Recipient.
Donald is survived by his wife, Patricia; seven children, Kathleen (William) Gripman of Plymouth, MI, Mary Jo (Bruce) Bauman of North Mankato, David (Sheila) Lindblom of Mankato, Richard (Lisa) Lindblom of North Mankato, Lori (Randy) Seitzer of Good Thunder, Cindy (Chris) Kaufman of North Mankato, Tom (Deb) Lindblom of New Prague; 20 grandchildren, William and Margaret "Meg" Gripman, Daniel, Andrew, and Tony (Trayl) Bauman, Matt (Jamie) and Ryan Lindblom, Kyle (Jamie), Cameron, and Tory Lindblom, Dustin and Ryan Seitzer, Erin (Todd), Katie, and Jake Kaufman, Amanda (Dennis) and Brittany Lindblom, Abby, Taylor, and Olivia Lindblom; seven great-grandchildren, Hunter, Dylan, Carson, Benelli, Braxton, Rhyan, and Elena; nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Leona, son, Tim in 1999 and brother, Richard "Dickie" Lindblom in 1959.
