Burton R. "Burt" Larson, age 89, of North Mankato, died Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Laurels Edge Assisted Living, 77 Stadium Road, Mankato, MN.

A Memorial Service to remember and celebrate Burt's life and accomplishments with family and close friends will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, MN. Visitation begins at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Lake Crystal Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to VINE Faith in Action, the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimers Foundation.

Burt was born February 27, 1924, to Theodore and Frieda (Roth) Larson in Lake Crystal, MN. He attended schools in Lake Crystal and graduated from Mankato High School. He served in the Army Air Force from 1943 - 1946 teaching celestial navigation.

Burt married Loretta (Kruse) Larson in 1944 and had five children. They later divorced. On October 26, 1973, he married Linda (Schubert) Larson.

He was employed for 42 years by Kato Engineering before retiring in 1983 as manager of manufacturing. He and Linda lived in Northwest Arkansas for 17 years, returning to North Mankato in January, 2000. Burt enjoyed golfing, woodworking, electrical and mechanical projects, building and flying radio-controlled airplanes.

Burt is survived by his wife, Linda of North Mankato; 1st wife, Loretta Larson of Mankato; five children, Daniel (Margaret) Larson and Joel (Beverly) Larson of Mankato, Kristine (Marc) Erlandson of Virginia, Mary Jane (Ronald) Riley of Pennsylvania, and Jessica (Scott) Vogel of Rosemount; and one step-daughter, Christine (Troy) Brooks of Owatonna; numerous grand-children and great grand-children; one brother, Maynard (Lila) Larson of North Mankato; and three nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Raymond.
