Fern Greeley, age 81, of Mankato, died peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Pathstone Living surrounded by her children.
Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. David Banfield officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Beauford. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Fern was born on October 17, 1932 to Ervin and Grace (Uecker) Rath in Jamestown, N.D. On August 31, 1958, Fern was united in marriage to Boyd Greeley where she would be homemaker to their four children on their farm in Mapleton. After the death of her husband, Fern was united in marriage to Wayne Greeley on July 15, 1972. After her children were grown, Fern fulfilled her desire to go back to school and finish her high school degree. She also earned degrees from both the University of Minnesota, Waseca and South Central College, Mankato. She was a foster grandparent for Children's House day care for many years until her retirement.
Fern is survived by her children, Tom (Peggy) Greeley of Mankato, Nancy Just and special friend, Julius of Corpus Christi, TX, Karen (Jeff) Woitas of Minnesota Lake, and Mary Abdo of Minnesota Lake; grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Nathan, Adam, Marcie, Tabitha, Bryce, Garrett, and Erika; brother, Lloyd Rath of Grand Forks, N.D. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Grace, husbands, Boyd and Wayne, and sisters, Amy and Carol.
