On January 28, 2014, our mother, Jeanette Lois Gimmer, peacefully went to be with the Lord and was reunited with her parents and five sons.
Jeanette was born December 30, 1929 in Denver, CO to Chester and Irma (Widgery) Kersting. In Denver, Jeanette raised four of her children by herself, until she met and married Leslie Gimmer, Sr. In 1958, the couple moved their family to the Mankato area until finally settling in Mankato and adding four more children to their family. Family was always important to Jeanette. She showed them unconditional love and taught them to always put family first. Jeanette was the executive secretary of the Mankato Chapter American Red Cross. She was always there to coordinate care and provide emergency assistance to those who needed it. Jeanette was a care taker through and through. She loved playing bingo and would follow the bingo circuit, was an avid card player, and loved having company over for coffee. Friends, family and strangers always knew they had a place at her table. Jeanette was a member of Morson-Ario VFW Post # 9713.
