Matthew Thomas Peterson, age 27, of Mankato, loving son, brother, spouse, and father, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, January 27, 2014, at his home.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church in Mankato, with Rev. Dawn Carder and Rev. Chris Conlin officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Friday at Northview " North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to a trust fund set up for his daughters at Community Bank in Mankato.
Matt was born on May 25, 1986, in Mankato to Thomas and Radah (Rochovitz) Peterson. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard in Kosovo. Matt leaves his mark on earth known as a kind and loving man. He was a protector who greeted everyone in the room and made sure they felt welcome and safe. He was affectionately known as a gentle giant who selflessly gave his all to his family and friends; he lived his life to the fullest and had no regrets.
Matt is survived by his fianc"e, Molly Gaare of Mankato; their two beautiful daughters, Addison and Chloe Peterson; parents, Thomas and Radah Peterson of North Mankato; one sister, Stephanie (J.T.) Malm of Hastings; two brothers, Nick Peterson and Alex Peterson, both of North Mankato; nieces and nephew, Emery and Owen Malm, and Mylah Peterson; grandparents, Jim (Betty) Rochovitz of Mankato and Donna Peterson of North Mankato; aunts and uncles, Rhonda (Mark) Taylor, Becci (Larry) Bateman, Bret Rochovitz, Gary Peterson, Pam (Joe) Willaert, Judy (Gary) Bulthuis, Rich (Cheri) Peterson, Linda (Bill) Schuster; also many cousins, other family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Toivola Kangus.
