Della Elaine Christine Kottke, age 91, of Fort Myers, Florida, went to be with the Lord Friday, January 17, 2014.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillside Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. She will be laid to rest at Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Della was born on August 4, 1922 to Chris and Anna Pedersen on a farm near Dover, MN. She graduated from St. Charles High School where she was a member of the 4H Club. Della enlisted in the United States Navy as a Specialist 2nd class wave and enjoyed the service and her new friends. She was honorably discharged after 2 " years and took a beautician course at the Mankato Beauty Culture School. She became a beautician in Lake Crystal. Della was united in marriage to Harvey Kottke and lived in North Mankato where 7 lively children were born. They lived on Jefferson Ave. for over 40 years and upon retiring they moved to an apartment for 10 years before moving to Fort Myers to their condo. She enjoyed sewing, baking, crossword puzzles, and walking. Della was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church in Fort Myers. She lived a wonderful life, was a good mother and wife, and above all she loved God.
Della is survived by two sons, Konrad (Bonnie) Kottke of Rapid, S.D. and Richard (Dawn) Kottke of Lake Crystal; four daughters, Linda (Steve) Wilson of North Mankato, Debra (Chuck) Baack of Fort Myers, FL, Robyn (Wayne) Kaul of W. Inver Grove Heights, and Cindy (Mark) Durmisevich of Colton, CA; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene Grills of St. Louis, MO; and brother, Milo Pedersen of Grand Forks, N.D. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harvey who died in 2010; son, LeRoy who died from cancer 33 years ago, parents, five brothers, Chalmer Pedersen, Martin Pedersen, Elry Pederson, Victor Pedersen, and infant brother, Chris Jr.
