Irene B. Jenson, age 92, of Mankato died, Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, September 4, 2010 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Saturday at church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Riverside Regional Pet Shelter (Humane Society) or Birthright of Mankato
Irene was born December 2, 1917 to Ferdinand and Antonia (Staloch) Hassing in Wells, MN. She graduated from Wells High School. She was united in marriage to Ingvild Jenson on September 15, 1940 in Blooming Prairie. Irene was a homemaker for her family. She was a longtime member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where she volunteered her time with quilt making, mission projects, school lunch room, and bingo. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, nature, bird watching, fishing, and spending time with her family.
Irene is survived by her husband of 70 years, Ingvild of Mankato; four children, Dave (Jo) Jenson of Hudson, WI, Mary Johnston of Mankato, Ken (Candy) Jenson of Lake Washington, and Chris Bode of Mankato; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; and two sisters.
