Evelyn L Schons

Evelyn Louise Schons, age 92, of Nicollet died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Oaklawn Health Care Center, Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Church of St. Paul in Nicollet with Fr. Ed Ardolf, officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Nicollet. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will continue one hour before service at church on Saturday.

Evelyn was born in Mankato, June 2, 1918 to Roman and Mary (Nicklay) Roemer. She was united in marriage to Victor J. Schons on September 12, 1945 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. Evelyn was a member of the Church of St. Paul in Nicollet and donated her time sewing quilts with the mission group. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and gardening.

Evelyn is survived by her four daughters, Sharon Steffen of Nicollet; Carol (Duane) Engstrom of Renville; Janet (Dave) Miller of Pawnee, IL; Gail Schons of Fairmont; seven grandchildren, Gary (Anne) Steffen; Brian (Bridget) Engstrom; Becky (John) Ridl; Kevin (Morgan) Engstrom; Karen (Jonathan) Wulf; Jacob Miller; Derek Miller; one sister, Charlotte Hodapp.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Victor in 1992, son-in-law, Merv, brother, Greg and sister, Jean.
