Gerald (Jerry) Albert Brown, age 86, lifelong resident of North Mankato, passed away peacefully on Sunday August 17, 2003 with his wife and family at his side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato with Rev. Peter Nosbush and Rev. Ed Ardolf officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 " 7:00 p.m., Thursday at Mankato Mortuary with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service. Visitation continues one hour before services at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to ISJ Hospice or Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Jerry was born in North Mankato, March 24, 1917 to Frank C. and Rose (Mayer) Brown. He attended Mankato High School and joined the Army in 1942. He was a Staff Sergeant in the 736th Tank Battalion and served in the European Theater during World War II. He was united in marriage to Betty Daley on February 14, 1942 at Holy Rosary Church. Jerry worked at 7UP Bottling/Northland Beverage until he retired in 1979. He was a charter member of Holy Rosary Parish, a Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 77 for 10 years, a member of the Knights of Columbus 5501, American Legion Post #11 Mankato, and a board member and past president of Meals on Wheels. Jerry enjoyed numerous hobbies: golfing, woodworking, hunting, dancing, rosemaling, and painting.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Betty; six children, Gerald R. (Jay) Brown of Mankato, Steven Brown and wife, Ronnie of Arlington, Virginia, Margaret Larson and husband, Dan of Mankato, Tim Brown and wife, Pat of Waseca, Mary Beth Johnson and husband, Steven of Marshall, Christopher Brown and wife, Anne of Potsdam, Germany; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Martens of Post Falls, Idaho.

Preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Henry, and Ted; two sisters, Florabelle and Ruth.
