Lucille Catherine (Stegmaier) Kozitza, age 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Monarch Meadows. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2014, at St.Pauls Catholic Church in Nicollet, MN with Father Todd Petersen and Deacon Steven Spilman officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to service. Burial will be in St. Michaels Cemetery in Belgrade Township. Arrangements by Northview - North Mankato Mortuary.
Lucille was born February 15, 1925, in Janesville, MN to Edward and Mary Stegmaier. She graduated from St. Clair High School in 1943. She went on to receive a degree at the Mankato Commercial College. She worked at First National Bank, Nelson Insulation Company, Valley News, and The St. Peter School of Dance as a bookkeeper.
Lucille was united in marriage to Clifford Kozitza on June 6, 1946. They raised seven children and farmed in Belgrade Township until they retired in 1979. She was an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. Lucy enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, sewing, quilting and playing bridge. There was not a card game she missed. Lucy especially loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren.
Lucy is survived by her children, Stephen (Connie) Kozitza of Winsted, Cretia (Ted) Wyrowski of Crystal, Tim Kozitza, Sharon (Gary) Patterson, Karon Sheldon, and Mark (Amy) Kozitza, all of North Mankato; daughter in-law, Leanne Kozitza of Pillager; sister, Rose Meese of Palmyra, VA; 20 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford "Punch"; son, Jeffrey; and brother, Joseph Stegmaier.
The family wants to express a special Thank You to the staff at Monarch Meadows and the Mayo Clinic Hospice Program for their kind, loving care of our sweet mother.
