Marie G. Lueck, age 97, of Mankato, died Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Oaklawn Health Care Center.
Funeral service will be 10:30a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Wayne Eichstadt, officiating. A visitation will be from 4 " 7p.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Mankato Mortuary. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
Marie was born on July 22, 1916 to Herman and Alma (Schmidt) Doss in Blue Earth Co., MN. She was raised on the farm in Waseca Co. her parents homesteaded and all the buildings are still in use today. Marie was baptized Sept. 10, 1916 and confirmed April 13, 1930 in St. John Evangelical Church in St. Clair, MN. She graduated from District 86 Waseca Co., MN with honors and many certificates of a good student. Marie married Leslie Lueck on Feb. 16, 1933 at St. John Evangelical Church, in St. Clair. Together they moved to Mankato in 1943. They joined Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church where Marie was still a member and belonged to the Ladies Aux. Marie started a new part of life when she went to work at the Mankato Paper Box (Mankato Corp.) Retiring from work after 25 years " in 1981. She enjoyed the bowling team, won a championship and the many wonderful friends she met and always kept in touch with. Thanks girls!
Marie is survived by her 7 children, Luverne (Norma) of Mankato, Helen (Chester) Hrdlicka, of Elysian, Leroy (Charmain) of Mankato, Alaine Hoffman & Robert E. Wolff of Madison Lake, Richard (Audrey) of Mankato, David of Mankato, and Jerry (Ann) of Spokane, WA; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie in 1987; parents; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Evert (Leona) Doss and Carl (Rose) Doss; sisters, Arlene (Hugo) Engel, Isabella (Sylvester) Youngerberg; brothers-in-law, Louis (Lila) Lueck; sisters-in-law, Mabel (Chris) Priem, and Rosella (Wally) Laase.
Marie's family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Oaklawn Health Care Center, for their compassionate and unending care.
