Bernadine Mary Barke, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May, 25, 2014, at her home surrounded by family.Visitation with the family is from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 with a celebration of Bernadine's life beginning at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.
Bernadine was most recently a resident of Mankato, MN but formerly of rural Madison Lake, MN. Prior to her death she was retired from National Poly of Mankato, MN.
Bernadine enjoyed gardening, bird watching, quilting, and knitting and was quick with all sorts of crafty items.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to VINE Faith in Action, Ecuman Pathstone Day Living, or the ISJ Hospice program. A special thank you to Lutheran Services, Vine and Hospice for the wonderful support and concern they have shown.
Bernadine was born June 11, 1922 in Clear Lake, MN to Henry and Emma (Imholte) Heinen. Bernadine is survived by her sisters Teresa Barrett of St. Cloud, MN; Delores Orcutt of Eden Prairie and brother, Vern Heinen of Sartell, MN. Bernadine's sons Charles Barke (Edith) of Mapleton, LeRoy Barke (Elaine Brown) of Chippewa Falls, WI; Carl Barke of Mankato; Fred Barke (Gaila) of Burnsville; Victor Barke (Kathy) of Mankato; John Barke (Lisa Merideth) of Campbellsville, KY; and daughters Janell Wolters (Gordon) of Mankato; Valerie Billue and Emlyn Rhodes (Kenneth) both from Windsor, CA and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
Bernadine was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, sons, David F. Barke and Raymond A. Barke of Madison Lake; daughter-in-law, Leisha Barke of Campbellsville, KY and an infant grandson.
Loving mother, sister, neighbor, and friend"she will be sadly missed.
