LorJean B. Hauser, age 77 of North Mankato died, Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Laurel's Peak Rehabilitation Center, from complications of MDS (myelodysplastic syndrome).
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1706 Lee Boulevard, North Mankato with Rev. Robert Stover officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, and will continue on Monday from 12 NOON until the service at church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to the American Cancer Society or Messiah Lutheran Church.
LorJean was born April 13, 1937 to Robert and Martha (Mielke) Abram in Brownton, MN. She graduated from Stewart High School in 1955. She married James Hauser, October 30, 1957 in Glencoe, MN. She worked in sales at Brett's Department Store, sold Avon and assisted in the running of Hauser Siding & Windows for many years. She attended South Central College, Iowa Lakes, and Normandale Community College, obtaining a nursing degree. She was employed as a nurse at the St. Peter Security Hospital and School Sisters of Notre Dame.
Upon semi-retirement she worked as a motel desk clerk. After retirement she enjoyed tutoring school children, working as a Home Health Nurse and with the elderly food program. LorJean enjoyed traveling, playing the piano, and pipe organ, boating, bird watching, playing cards, church circle, reading and spending time with her friends and family. She was a proud member of the Stammtisch German Club.
LorJean is survived by her sons, Dennis (Anna Marie), Pocatello, ID and Ron (Kelly), Mankato; seven grandchildren, Charles Hauser, Bloomington, Heather (Adam) Kluge, Burnsville, Laura and Christian Hauser, and Julie Barrett, Pocatello, ID, James and Kate Hauser, North Mankato; one great-granddaughter, Rylee Barrett, Pocatello, ID; sisters, Mildred Henke, Waconia, Karen (Chuck) Schrader, Hutchinson; sister-in-laws, Alice Hauser, New Ulm, Elizabeth Kubezeweski, Porter, and Shirley Carrier, Waconia; godchildren, Kerry Barrie, Litchfield, Kathleen Kachelmyer, Mankato, Danny Schrader, Hutchinson; and many nieces and nephews.
LorJean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; their son, Mark; and brother, Robert Abram.
LorJean's family would like to sincerely thank her doctors; Dr. Devenini, Dr. Kumar, Dr. Parrata, and Dr. Storvick; and the staff and nurses for their wonderful care over the past nine years.
