Rita Eileen (Devney) Vollbrecht, formerly of Mankato, MN, and Renton, WA, died peacefully at her home in St. Charles, MO at the age of 59 on September 10, 2014.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary with Rev. John Kunz officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Northview. Burial will be in St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery in Rapidan.

Rita was born August 11th, 1955 to Kenneth and Margaret Devney. Rita attended Good Counsel Academy and had fond memories of her childhood. She was married to Kevin Vollbrecht, her soul mate, on October 4th, 1986. Rita enjoyed telling stories of her life and the lives of those she loved. She was quick to laugh and her sense of humor sustained her and her family during difficult times. An avid reader, Rita enjoyed a good mystery. She loved Irish music and especially enjoyed the violin.

Rita is survived by her husband, Kevin; son, Michael and his partner, Matthew; daughter, Hannah and her boyfriend, Andrew; and Rita's pride and joy, her new granddaughter, Avalon Margaret. She also leaves behind her brothers and sisters: Mary Pat (Gerald), Jim (Rosemary), Teresa (Mark), Jane (Tom), Julie (Mark), and Steve (LaVonne), as well as a large extended family of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and the doctors and nurses that cared for her during her lifetime.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, with whom she is now reunited.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for your prayers. In honor and remembrance of her life, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Kidney Fund.
