Henry Michael "Buck" Rieff Jr., age 84, of North Mankato, died Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 13, 2014, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato, with Rev. John Kunz officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Friday at Northview " North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Buck was born November 13, 1929, in Belgrade Township, Nicollet County, MN. He was the son of Henry and Susan (Dauffenbach) Rieff Sr. Buck attended Belgrade Township Country School until the eighth grade and then went to work on other people's farms. He was united in marriage to Margaret Klecker on June 29, 1950, in Owatonna. They made their home in North Mankato. Buck was employed as a beverage salesman for 28 years mostly with City Club Beverage Company and Hamm's Sales Company. He later did landscaping for the School Sisters of Notre Dame and Taylor Corp. Buck was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. He enjoyed playing cards, gardening, farming, hunting, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Buck is survived by his four daughters, Suzane Whatley of Temple, TX, Cheri (Rich) Peterson of North Mankato, Lori (Brian Ketterling) Rieff of Apple Valley, and Carol (Todd) Vogel of Mankato; one son, Sgt. Michael Rieff of North Pole, Alaska; twelve grandchildren, Tommy (Christene) Adams, Stephanie (Patrick) Tomasek, Angie (Steve) Sheldrup, Holly (Michael) Johnson, Rachel Peterson, Brian Peterson, Steven (Monica) Rieff, Paul Rieff, Rob Vogel, Devin Vogel, Sarah (Joel) Schrimpf, and Olivia Ketterling; fifteen great-grandchildren, McClain, Katie, John, Luke, Hope, Taber, Natalie, Trevor, Jake, Rylan, Tayla, Lydia, Maya, Claire, and Jovie; three great-great-grandchildren, Jude, Olivia, and Noah; sister-in-law, Marilyn Rieff of North Mankato; brother-in-law, Ray Reinbold of North Mankato; also nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret in 2001; an infant daughter, Gail; son-in-law, Billy Whatley; four sisters, Margaret, Catherine, Marcie, and Patricia; one brother, Lawrence.

His family would like to thank the staff at Oak Terrace for the wonderful care he received.
