A gathering of friends and family for Robert Kawell, age 93 of Mankato will be held at Mankato Mortuary on Monday, August 18, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A private family service will take place at a later date. Burial with full military honors will be held at Pilgrim's Rest cemetery.

Robert Kawell was born in Mankato the youngest of three sons to Fred and Augusta Kawell on July 14, 1921. Robert proudly served in the United States Army; serving in Pearl Harbor during the bombing. He and his two brothers safely returned home after the war was over. Robert married Carolyn Menk January 24, 1942 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Together, the couple had three daughters: Judy, Ginger and Connie. Robert took pride in being a Mankato business owner for many years; owning Bob's Electronic Sales on Front Street. It was a business he ran with the help of his wife and family. Every weekend, Bob and Carolyn would take their family to their cabin on Crooked Lake to spend time together as a family. Robert loved to escape and spend time fishing with his family on the lake.

Robert H. Kawell died August 15, 2014 at Pathstone Living at the age of 93.

He is survived by wife Carolyn of Mankato; daughters, Judy (Tom) Zimmerman of Southaven, MS, Ginger Kawell (Bill) Mevisson of Montrose, Connie (Steven) Eccles Eagle Lake; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Florence Kawell and Caroline Kawell. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Allen and Norman (Lou) Kawell.
