Betty J. (Hubbard) Kjarum, age 82 of Mankato, died unexpectedly, Monday, August 11, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health System " Mankato.

A memorial service honoring Betty's life will be held at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. David Banfield officiating. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at church. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials are preferred to VINE Faith in Action or Bethel Baptist Church, Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family.

Betty Joann was born December 15, 1931 to John and Mary (Markey) Hubbard in Austin, MN. She graduated from Wells High School. On December 14, 1951, Betty was united in marriage to William O. Kjarum in Austin. She was a long-distance telephone operator for Mankato Citizens Telephone Co. until 1998. Betty went on to be a greeter at Sam's Club in Mankato until December 2013. She was a past member of First Presbyterian Church, and current member of Bethel Baptist. Betty enjoyed gardening, socializing with her friends, and above all time with her grandchildren and family. She was once described as being the best "therapist" ever. Betty will be forever missed by her family and countless Sam's Club friends.

Betty is survived by her husband of 62 years, William of Mankato; daughters, Melinda (Jon Peterson) Kjarum of North Mankato and Sandra (Tim) Seidel of Bloomington, IN; grandchildren, Catelin and Linzi Peterson and Gabriel, Jillian, and Tierney Seidel; special Cairn Terrier, Jake; sisters, Mary Hallum of Albert Lea, Kathleen (David) Wentling of Reading, PA, Sarah (Phil) Hatten of Brownsdale, and Margaret Flynn of Seattle, WA; brother, Edward (Brenda) Hubbard of Albert Lea; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brother and his wife, John (Karen) Hubbard Jr.; and brothers-in-law, Jim Hallum and Ron Flynn
