Duane Marvin Comnick, 65, of Mankato, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Mayo Hospital in Mankato.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30am, Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Crossview Covenant Church in North Mankato with Pastor Brad Jackson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm, on Friday, August 8, 2014 at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary and continuing one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Glenwood Cemetery with full military honors. A luncheon will be served at the church.

Duane was born December 27, 1948 to Marvin and Eileen (Grack) Comnick. He grew up farming near Green Isle and Plato graduating from Glencoe High School in 1966. He enlisted in the Army and served in Vietnam as a Medical Corpsman and Operating Room Specialist. Following the armed service, he obtained his RN degree and worked for Immanuel Hospital (now MCHS). He retired from his position as a Registered Nurse in surgery on July 17, 2014.

Duane married Sharell Mundschenk November 24, 1973 and their union was blessed with two daughters, Rebecca and Amanda. He lived his adult life in Mankato and enjoyed gardening, canning, sharing his garden produce, crossword puzzles, cooking, baking and sharing life with those around him. Duane was gifted with humor and story-telling. Duane exemplified being the hands and feet of God without condemnation or judgment.

Duane will be remembered as a Son, Brother, Veteran, Husband, Father, Brother-in-Law, Uncle, Colleague and Friend"he accepted each role humbly and performed each one honorably. He is survived by his wife, Sharell Comnick, daughters Becky Comnick and Amanda (Scott) Emerick; second Mom, Luella Comnick; siblings, Delores "Dee" (Graham) Clarke, Ron (MaryLou) Mielke, and Jan (Bill) Teschendorf; Brother-in-Laws, David (Suzanne) Mundschenk and Peter (Kari) Mundschenk, cousins Joyce Bening and Arlene (Ron) Martin; as well as nieces and nephews and their families. He considered his co-workers at the hospital to also be family, being Uncle Duey to so many.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, grandchildren and Sister-in-Law, Roberta Mundschenk.

A memorial fund has been established for Duane with Wells Federal Bank.
