Dorothy D. Davis, age 88, of rural Lake Crystal, died peacefully, Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at her home.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Visitation will be held from 11:30 " 2 p.m., Sunday at Northview. Interment will be in Minneopa Cemetery, rural Mankato.

Dorothy was born October 14, 1925 to Thomas L. and Violet (Keever) Moore in Northfield, MN. She graduated from Northfield High School in 1943 and then from Mankato State Teachers College in 1945. Dorothy taught in a country school for one year near Blooming Prairie and then for two years near Owatonna. She then went to work for Federated Mutual Insurance Company in Owatonna from 1948-49. Dorothy was united in marriage to Gernard S. Davis on December 10, 1949 in Owatonna. In 1952 Dorothy and Gernard started farming three miles east of Lake Crystal. In 1965 they moved to their present farm west of Lake Crystal where she and Gernard farmed until his death. Dorothy was an avid vegetable and flower gardener, enjoyed crossword puzzles, cooking, canning, and baking.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Floyd and his wife, Debra of rural Lake Crystal; three sisters-in-law, Marjorie Pasbrig of Mankato, Donna Morris of Savage, and Evelyn (Herbert) TeGantvoort of Las Vegas, NV; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gernard on June 22, 1994; infant brother, Thomas; brother, Robert (Francis) Moore; two sisters, Grace (Andrew) Hunt and Lucille (Roger) Bogue; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dorothy (Ervin) Hanson, Emma (Raymond "Bud") Holm, Ruby Thweatt, Raymond Morris; and George Pasbrig.
