Dorothy A. Sohler, age 102 of rural Mankato, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Laurels Peak in Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 1, 2014 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. Tim Biren officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, Dorothy's wish was memorials given to SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, The Newman Center or the donor's choice. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy was born September 30, 1911 to Joseph and Mary (Materne) Hodapp in rural Mapleton. She graduated from St. Clair High School and later from Mankato Commercial College. Dorothy was united in marriage to Simon "Si" Sohler on January 7, 1936 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. She was a farmwife helping her husband farm the family land.

Dorothy was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She also belonged to the Extension Club and Garden Club. Dorothy enjoyed playing piano, cards, and traveling.

She is survived by her son Jim (Betty) Sohler of rural Mankato; granddaughter, Sharon Karstens of Prior Lake; two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Nick; two great-great-grandchildren, Haley and Lucas; sister, Mildred Fossen of Mankato; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Simon; four brothers, Dennis, Alfred, Cletus, and Earl.
