Norman was born on May 2, 1928, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to William and Ethel (Silha) Vogel. As a child he moved with his family to La Crosse. Norman graduated from Aquinas High School in 1946. On June 10, 1950 he was united in marriage to Katheryne Lyga at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in La Crosse. Norman and Kate moved to Mankato in 1953. He worked for Twin Cities Wholesale Drug Company and his territory stretched across South Central Minnesota where his clients fondly referred to him as "Stormin Norman". After retirement, Norm and Kate traveled to various parts of the United States and spent winters in Florida and California. Norman was an avid golfer, duck hunter, and of course, a lifelong fan of the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers.
Norm is survived by his five children, Norm Vogel Jr. of Mankato, Ellie Vogel of New Richmond Wisconsin, Ann (Patrick Mulready) Vogel of Racine, Wisconsin, Katie (Bill) Vogel Moran of Minneapolis, and Paul (Kristin) Vogel of Mankato; 12 grandchildren, Nicholas, Nathan, and Emily Vogel; Kristy and Thomas Teske; John, Matthew, and Peter Mulready; Ryan and Maggie Moran; Joe and Mike Vogel; two great grandchildren, Dante' and Dominic LaDuke; sister, Patricia (Donald) Kammel of Coon Valley, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Katheryne and son, William "Bill".
The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the staff of Keystone of Mankato for the loving care they provided Norm in his last years of life.
The family asks that in-lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice.
