Charles "Chuck" Wagner Jr., age 85, of Lake Crystal, died Monday, June 16, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health System " Mankato.
Memorial Service will held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal. Visitation will be held one hour before service at the church on Saturday. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Chuck was born January 13, 1929 to Charles H. Sr. and Rose (Seydel) Wagner in Heron Lake Township, Jackson County, Minnesota. He served his country, beginning at age 16, during World War II with the U.S. Marines, stationed in the Philippine Islands. He married Maxine Redmond on December 19, 1959 in South Dakota. Chuck worked construction for most of his life. He helped build the North Shore Drive in Duluth, Highway 169 between St. Peter and Mankato, and Interstate 90. He also worked for the Ford garage in LeCenter as a mechanic, Northland Beverage from 1967-83 and then for Hodgeman and Sons Construction until retiring at age 75 in 2004. Chuck enjoyed fixing things, Harley Davidson Motorcycles, Ford Cars, collecting and restoring Mustang Cars, western movies, and his faith.
Chuck is survived by, Maxine; children, Alan Wagner of Oregon, Christine (Dale) Allen of rural Lake Crystal, Gene (Karen) Wagner of rural Mankato, Connie Nagel, Linda (Daryl) Maas all of North Mankato, Lisa (Peter) Mead of rural Garden City, Joe (Melissa) Wagner of rural Lake Crystal, and Wendi (Mike) Schoeb of Amboy; twelve grandchildren; his four legged friend, Gus; four sisters, Holly Brisband, Ruth Angle, Carol Williams, and Twylla (Kenny) Pederson; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; son, Monte Charles; first wife, Ila; twelve siblings, Ella, Clara, Martha, Rose, Erna, Frida, Harold, Willard, Wilda, Roy, Violet, and Ray.
