Jane E. Keith, age 83 of Mankato, died January 17, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday January 21, 2014 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Mankato. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 p.m. " 7:00 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary with a 6:00 p.m. prayer service and continue one hour prior to the service at church. Inurnment will be held later this spring at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the American Legion or the Disabled American Veterans.
Jane Elizabeth was born May 28, 1930 to Walter and Francis (Unzeitig) Wandersee in Morgan. Jane married George Keith August 25, 1948 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Winnebago. In 1955, Jane and George made their home in Cokato, where she worked for Fabri-Tek as a line supervisor. Together, the couple raised their five children, creating the best childhood for them and many other children. Jane and George operated the movie theater and created the homecoming dances in Cokato, creating an environment for the youth. Jane was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and as a youth leader for the Boy Scouts of America. She loved to share her jalapeno jelly and seasoned salt. In 1984, the couple started to winter in Yuma, AZ, the land they called, "God's Green Earth."
Jane will be missed by her children, Steve (Diane) Keith of Waconia, Linda (Ron) Flynn of Mankato, Calvin (Linda) Keith of California, Lisa (Ted) Williams of Isanti; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine (Robert) Harty, Darlene Anderson and Mary Rome; brother, Dick (Phyllis) Wandersee; and she will be missed by many other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George; daughter Cindy; brothers, Charles and James; brothers-in-law, Larry Anderson, Al Rome and Bob Rome.
