Lloyd Emil Hagemann age 89 of North Mankato, died Thursday evening, January 9, 2014 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living Center.
Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Osakis in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association or donor's choice.
Lloyd Emil Hagemann was born April 9, 1924 to Awald H. and Loretta C. (Schwartz) Hagemann in Winfred, SD. He left home at the age of 15 to help on a farm in southern MN. Lloyd married the love of his life, Lillius Michal on August 14, 1943 in Minneapolis. He joined the U.S. Army on May 4, 1945 and was honorably discharged on June 29, 1946. Lloyd was an electrician for area companies until 1957. In 1957, he became the State Electrical Inspector until 1970. During his time as an Inspector, he became an Electrical Apprenticeship Instructor. Lloyd was a charter member of Local 343 IBEW and became their Business Manager in 1978. He also served as a Mankato City Council Member from 1974 to 1986 and was on the MN Valley Building Trades Council. After retiring in 1988, they moved to Osakis. Lloyd was a member of the Osakis City Council and a Past President of the Osakis Sportsmen's Club. Lloyd's hobbies included hunting, fishing, bowling, dancing and country music.
Lloyd is survived by his children, Bev (Ron) Brubaker of Mankato, Mike Hagemann of Stacy, Robert (Julie) Hagemann of Mankato, Jeff Hagemann of Bloomington; sister, Irene Ostriech of Missouri; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Lillius in 2001; parents; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; and son, Lyle in 1998.
