Patricia Delaine Powell, age 87, died Monday, January 6, 2014, Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.

"Pat" was born March 8, 1926 in Florida Township, Yellow Medicine County, Canby, MN. to Rose (Hoseck) Nordseth and Theodore Nordseth. She attended District 95 school through the eighth grade. She attended high school in Canby, MN. and graduated June, 1943. She then entered Abbott Hospital School of Nursing in September of 1943 and was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corp, graduating with an R. N. degree. At the end of World War II she married Floyd Powell.

Pat was a staff nurse at Redwood Area Hospital and Weiner Memorial Hospital in Marshall, MN. She last served as obstetric supervisor at Redwood Area Hospital.

Patricia is survived by four daughters, Penelope (Roger) Banwart, Mankato; Gretchen Baune, Northfield; Corinne Powell, North Carolina; and Jane (Ramon) Sanchez, Redwood Falls. In addition to her daughters, she is survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother; a son-in-law, Timothy Baune; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Redwood Falls, MN. Mankato Mortuary assisted with local arrangements.

Patricia's family wishes to thank her care-givers at Oak Terrace - Autumn Lane in North Mankato, and the compassionate staff at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato who cared for her during the last week of her life.
