Ellsworth Carl Granger, Jr., age 69, of Lake Crystal, died Thursday, December 26, 2013, at District One Hospital, Faribault, MN.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal. Burial will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 " 7 p.m., Monday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to the Lake Crystal - Wellcome Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Bud was born January 26, 1944 to Ellsworth Carl, Sr. and Mildred Irene (Woodcox) Granger in South Bend, Indiana. He graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1962. He then attended and graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington with his Bachelor degree in 1966 and Master degree in 1968. He came to Mankato in 1968 to teach accounting at Mankato State University in the Business Department. He retired from Mankato State in 2001 after 33 years. Bud was united in marriage to Karen J. Geyer on December 18, 1970 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Prague. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he served as past treasurer, on the board of properties, and pastoral care committee. He also did accounting for Geyer Fisheries, was a member of the MN Accounting Educators Association, volunteered at the Blue Earth County Library, and was the longtime treasurer of the Dollars for Scholars. He enjoyed reading, collecting books, playing Wii with his grandchildren, going to plays at Minnesota State University, Mankato, and playing board games.
Bud is survived by his wife, Karen; two sons, Carl Granger of Milford, Michigan, Jim (Danelle) Granger of Mankato; two grandchildren, Carl Jr. and McKenna; cousins, Sue (Jim) Kummer, Bruce (Mary) Woodcox, Dianne Miller, Gary Travis; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sandy (Roger) Mager of Scottsdale, AZ, Wally (Kathy) Geyer of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, and Adam (Tammy) Geyer of New Prague; nieces and nephews.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents.
