N. June Sandvig, age 83, beloved wife, mother of three, grandmother of nine, and great-grandmother of two died peacefully Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 26, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church in Mankato with Rev. Dawn Carder officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be from 9:00 " 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Neva June Sandvig was born June 28, 1930 to Charles and Rose Ann (Sauer) Oleson in Lemmon, South Dakota. She attended Lemmon School and graduated from Mobridge High School, Mobridge, South Dakota. June attended Business College in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, St Cloud State University, and graduated from Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

June taught kindergarten briefly until she met and married Robert Sandvig. They were united in marriage on July 29, 1957 in Rapid City, SD. She retired from teaching to become a full-time homemaker, but she never lost her love for children. She was a devoted mother. She loved all types of music, and enjoyed playing the piano and knew all of the camp songs. An avid crafter, she delighted in making Halloween costumes for her grandchildren.

She and her husband lived in Rapid City until 1990 when they moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They moved to Mankato in 1991 to be closer to their oldest grandchildren. June was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Mankato.

June is survived by three daughters, Linda (Brad) Leiding of rural Lake Crystal, MN, Kellie (Mike) Williams of Huntsville, AL, Julie (Ken) Young of Peoria, AZ; eight granddaughters, Jenni (Joel) Spangenberg, Jess (Mathias) Phelps, Jessica (Ben) Ruby, Jacquie (Andy) Lamm, Erin Leiding, Nikki Williams, Shelby Young, and Danika Young; one grandson, Corey Williams; two great-grandchildren, Henry Phelps and Payton Ruby; one brother, Jim (Jeanne) Oleson of Kellispell, Montana; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert on November 25, 2010; her parents; and her sister, Kay Noel of Bryans Road, Maryland.
