Carolyn Elaine Zylstra, age 67, of North Mankato, died Friday, May 24, 2013, at her residence following a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer.

Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 30, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church in Mankato, with Rev. Harold Tongen officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in Ransom Cemetery in Bigelow. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Carolyn was born on April 10, 1946, in Worthington. She was the daughter of Gus and Agnes (Hoekstra) Zylstra. Carolyn was a graduate of Ocheyedan High School in Ocheyedan, IA. She later graduated from South Central Technical College in North Mankato. Carolyn was united in marriage to Dan Bezdicek in St. Cloud in 1968. They later divorced. Carolyn was employed with Chicago Northwestern Railroad in Mankato and St. Paul. She also worked as a staff assistant for HickoryTech. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Mankato. She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, music, and especially time spent with her family.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Sheri (Dale) Luginbill of Stacy; twin sons, Michael Bezdicek of Minneapolis and Sean (Rocio) Bezdicek of Eden Prairie; four grandchildren, Salvador and Sebastian Bezdicek Rayas, and Savannah and Dane Luginbill; two sisters, Shari (Verl) Jacobsma of Worthington and Beverly Attema of Ventura, CA; brother, Ken (Ellie) Zylstra of Worthington; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; also close friends, Ardy Freiderich and Mary Storlein, both of Mankato.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Barbara.
