Marian Isabelle Schubbe, age 93, of Mapleton, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Mapleton Community Home.
Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, May 27, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mapleton with Rev. Vicki Hultine, officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the church. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Mapleton. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Marian was born February 22, 1920 to Claude Laurence and Mabel Ruth (Shaw) DeRemer in Blue Earth County. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mapleton and attended country school. Marian was united in marriage to Leonard H. Schubbe on October 28, 1939 in Iowa. Marian was a lifelong resident of Blue Earth County and was a caregiver and housekeeper for her family and for many families in the Mapleton area all her life. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, painting, cooking, baking and gardening, especially flowers. Marian was a perfectionist in all areas of her life. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much.
Marian is survived by her daughter, Beverly (Marlin) Sombke of Good Thunder; son-in-law, Lynn (Myrna) Braun of Mankato; five grandchildren, Christine (Kevin) FitzSimmons, Paul (Ellen) Sombke all of Good Thunder, Roberta Braun and fianc", Tom Carmody of Northglenn, CO, Candi (Mike) Scott of Elysian, and Cari (Vic) Prado of Englewood, CO; eleven great-grandchildren, Ashley (Louis) FitzSimmons-Olsen, of Kenosha, WI, Jessica FitzSimmons of Washington D.C., Megan FitzSimmons of Fargo, ND, Joshua Sombke of Mankato and Samuel Sombke of Good Thunder, Luke and Marc Sombke of Mapleton, Courtney (Matt) Conroy and Chelsea Scott all of Elysian, Benjamin Prado of Englewood, CO, and Christopher Braun of Titusville, FL; one great-great-grandchild, Ayden Braun of Titusville, FL; sister, Florence Ellis of Pine Island; sister-in-law, Grace Schubbe of Mankato and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard in 2008; daughter, Marilyn Braun; two grandsons, John Sombke and Mark Braun, granddaughter, Lori Sombke; two sisters, Myrtle Sargent and Lucille Oman; brother, Laurence DeRemer; and many in-laws.
