Judith "Judy" Belle (Martinson) Roe, age 71, of North Mankato, died May 18, 2013, at PathStone Living in Mankato after courageously living with Lewy Body Dementia for several years.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, May 22, at Centenary United Methodist Church in Mankato. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 21, at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, and 1 hour before the service at the church. Burial will be Union Cemetery, in St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The Lewy Body Dementia Association.
Judy was born April 28, 1942, to Eric & Lucille (Waller) Martinson, in St. Paul, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Mount Carmel Lutheran Church in St. Paul. She graduated from Johnson High School in 1960 and from the University of Minnesota in 1964, ALA in Physical Therapy and BS with Honors. Judy was united in marriage to James Roe at Mount Carmel Church on June 26, 1965. She worked as a physical therapist, and was highly sought after and appreciated by her patients, especially for her skillful massages. Doctors appreciated her detailed notes and professionalism.
Judy was an avid reader of history. She enjoyed gardening, needlework, sewing, traveling, cooking and baking. Being an excellent planner, she attended to the details of home & social life, family camping trips, work schedules, and holiday festivities. She loved and cared for children as demonstrated through sponsorship of children in need overseas and teaching Sunday school. She was a marvelous mom and grandmother. Judy was a member of United Methodist Women and supported other charities by giving generously of her time and resources. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir. She found great satisfaction in the simple things in life. Judy volunteered her time to teach English as a Second Language. She is fondly remembered for her brilliant mind, compassionate heart, sense of humor, great courage, and integrity.
Judy is survived by her husband, Jim; son, Dan Roe of Roseville, MN; daughters, Sarah (Darcy) Wennes of North Mankato, MN, and Rebecca Roe of Roseville, MN; grand children, A. J. & Eric Wennes; sister, Ann (Martinson) Fallon of Maplewood, MN.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, and by her brother-in-law Jim Fallon.
