Agnes Jean Kickul, age 93, of Mankato, died Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Laurels Peak Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato, with Rev. John Kunz officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Monday at Mankato Mortuary, with a 6:45 p.m. Prayer Service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Agnes Jean Kickul was born March 31, 1920, in Franklin, MN, the daughter of John and Ellen (Lorden) Ruff. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1936 at the age of sixteen and attended Humbolt College in Minneapolis. Agnes worked at the Redwood Falls Clinic until 1943 when she joined the Womens Army Corps. She was stationed in Cairo, Egypt, Naples and Rome, Italy before being discharged in late 1945. One of the highlights of her service was being able to attend Midnight Mass on Christmas 1944 at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.

Agnes married Graydon Kickul on April 22, 1948, at Sacred Heart Church in Franklin. After moving to several southern Minnesota Cities, the family moved to Mankato in 1960. After raising her family, Agnes returned to work in 1964 in the Registrars Office at Mankato State University. Agnes retired from Mankato State University in 1984.

Agnes was a devout Irish Catholic and active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church since 1960. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards, traveling, shopping and her family. She celebrated her 93rd birthday this past Easter surrounded by her sons, daughter, sons- and daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Grady (Gaye Mattke) Kickul of Pierre, SD, Jerry Kickul of Joliet, IL, Katy (Bill) Kindler of Mankato, and Jim (Jennifer) Kickul of New Hope; 3 grandchildren, Lisa (Kirk) Davis, Kory Kickul, and Heidi (Marty) Condon; and 5 great grandchildren, Jackson, Keaton, Kerigan, Reese and Brayden; also many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Mary in 1951; husband, Graydon in 1987; sisters, Eileen Anderson, Mary Pyfferoen, and Loretta Ryan; and brother, Jack Ruff.
