Richard Strachan, age 66, of Mankato, died, Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System " Mankato.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Northview " North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, with Rev. Tim Biren, officiating. A visitation will be from 5 " 8 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Northview " North Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Northview. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Memorials may be given to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

Richard Alan was born October 11, 1946 to William and Norma Lee (Schmidt) Strachan in East Chicago, IN. He received his Bachelors, Masters, and PHD from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Richard was united in marriage to Kathy Roetzel on August 6, 1977 in Adrian, MN. He was proud of his 33 years of teaching Anthropology at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Richard enjoyed playing cards, genealogy, and jewelry making.

Richard is survived by his wife, Kathy Strachan of Mankato, MN; two children, Terry Strachan of McKinney, TX and Tisha (Dillon) Crow of Lake Crystal, MN; four grandchildren, Alan Junker, Daniel Anderson, Richelle Anderson, Aries Crow; father, Frank Lengyel of Frisco, TX; four sisters, Pamela Strachan of Frisco, TX, Mary Knuff of Grapevine, TX, Peggy (David) Siewert of Alpharetta, GA, Ann Marie (John) McArdle of Frisco, TX; two brothers, Charlie (Tina) Lengyel of White Lake, MI and Jim (Nancy) Lengyel of Clinton, UT; three sisters-in-law, Carole (Delbert) Honermann of Cleveland, MN, Midge (Arnie) Block of Stewartville, MN and Barb Roetzel of Mitchell, SD; and three brothers-in-law, Frank (Jeanie) Roetzel of Sartell, MN, Ken Roetzel of Charleston, SC, and Ralph (Kathy) Roetzel of Sioux Falls, SD.

Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Lee Lengyel; sister-in-law, Clarice Lenz; brother-in-law, Daryl Roetzel; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Margaret and Leonard Roetzel.
