Jan Marie Murphy, age 57, of Mankato, died on Friday, April 26, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato, from a massive heart attack.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato, with Rev. Peter Nosbush officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, with a 6:45 p.m. Prayer Service. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be given to St. Judes Childrens Hospital.

Jan was born on August 21, 1955, in Mankato to Robert and Geraldine (Kulseth) Murphy. She was a 1973 graduate of Mankato West High School and received a degree from Mankato Vocational Technical College. Over the years, Jan was a care provider for many in need. Most importantly Jan was a mother to many. Not only did Jan raise her 3 children, she was always found being momma to others. Jan enjoyed puzzles, gambling, playing games, talking with friends and family and especially time spent with her children.

Jan is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Murphy and Lindsey Murphy, and a son; Bryan Murphy, all of North Mankato; brother, Kevin Murphy of North Mankato; sister, Shannon Murphy of Mankato; also many aunts, uncles, cousins, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an older sister, Cheryl.
